Undercover is the brainchild of Japanese designer Jun Takahashi, who first started “UNDER COVER” in 1990 together with a friend while still in fashion school. In 1993 Jun Takahashi and NIGO founded the store NOWHERE, from which the label “Undercover” was born. Undercover is heavily inspired by the punk culture, mainly The Sex Pistols. Jun was part of a Japanese cover band called, the Tokyo Sex Pistols. Early fans of the label include Rei Kawakubo. JohnUNDERCOVER is a ‘brother line’ and still infused with the essence of UNDERCOVER while it functions as an independent collection.
